Fly away

I'm off to Phoenix tomorrow for the weekend, so I'll be posting again next week. Till then, I'll leave you with a lovely bracelet that my dear friend made for me. Isn't it beautiful?..

more jewelry

Here's another piece I made over the weekend. It was really fun to play with different shapes and a combination of stringing and wire wrapping.

jewelry weekend

This weekend has been all about making jewelry. I found some beautiful components at Michael's a couple of weeks ago and have been itching to play with them ever since. They are called Vintage Goods by Jill Schwartz, an amazing artist and jewelry designer. You can check her out on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OV3QMo62F6E

I've been so inspired by her work and have felt a quantum leap happening in my own jewelry-making. I have so many ideas running around in my head now that I can't wait to make. Her work helped me to think outside of the box, get out of the rut we get into sometimes. I made a few pieces, so I'll post a few over the next several days. I can't wait to wear what I've made...Enjoy!

more flower goodness

My flower theme continues with this necklace I created over the weekend. I took an old t-shirt, cut it into strips and made the fabric flower. Then I sewed some wire on the back of the flower to attach beads and chain to. And, voila, a pretty spring necklace...

Spring flowers

Spring is finally coming to the Pacific Northwest, so this weekend it was all about making flowers. I found this tutorial that Calli at http://www.make-it-do.com/make-it/peony-clips/ was kind enough to share and made this sweet pink ribbon peony. I love it! Tonight I think I'll make a yellow one, or maybe a cream one...

Also, I hope this link thing works; we'll see after I publish this. I'll get the hang of all this techno stuff eventually!

jewelry cabinet ta-da

Here I am, back again after more traveling and a crazy few weeks at work. I'm so tired by the time I get home, that it's all I can do to eat something and do a few rows of crochet or knitting before I fall into bed.

That being said, I finally finished painting the jewelry cabinet my dad made me for Christmas. I posted a small peek a little while back, but here's the finished piece hanging on my wall. I really like the bright colors; they help brighten up the gray and cold spring we're having in Portland. I'm pretty pleased with the result...I hope you like it too.
